ISG Vertical Pipeline Centrifugal Pump inlet outlet size

Inline Flange and Centerline Alignment Design Principles
The inlet and outlet of the ISG vertical pipeline centrifugal pump are designed on the same central axis, with identical nominal diameters for both connections to support direct inline installation without additional flow transition adapters. This structural layout allows the pump to be mounted at any position along a straight pipeline, just like a standard valve, without requiring extra support structures to offset misaligned connection points. The flange connection dimensions follow widely accepted industrial piping standards, ensuring full compatibility with most common pipeline flange configurations used in municipal water systems, industrial process loops and building HVAC networks. The symmetrical flow path design at both inlet and outlet minimizes unnecessary flow turbulence at the connection points, reducing local pressure loss and helping maintain consistent hydraulic efficiency across the full operating flow range. This alignment also simplifies on-site installation work, as technicians do not need to adjust pipeline orientation or perform complex alignment procedures to match different inlet and outlet sizes.

Size Matching Rules for System Flow and Head Requirements
The nominal inlet and outlet size of the pump is selected to match the system’s design flow velocity requirements, with typical flow velocity values kept between 1.0 m/s and 3.0 m/s for clean water transfer applications. For low-flow, high-head operating points, a slightly smaller connection size can be adopted to keep flow velocity within the optimal range, while high-flow, low-head scenarios usually use larger connection sizes to avoid excessive flow resistance and unnecessary system pressure drop. The selected connection size must also ensure that the inlet flow velocity stays low enough to maintain sufficient net positive suction head margin, preventing cavitation damage even when the system operates at the maximum allowable flow rate. Users should avoid selecting a connection size that is far smaller than the diameter of the connected pipeline, as this sudden flow contraction will introduce extra turbulence and noise that degrade overall system performance. For systems with frequent flow fluctuations, the connection size should be sized to accommodate the maximum possible instantaneous flow, rather than only matching the steady-state design flow value.

Field Installation and Connection Verification Practices
Before connecting the pump to the pipeline, technicians should inspect the flange sealing surface to remove any rust, welding slag or residual debris that could damage the gasket and cause leakage during operation. The pipeline near the pump inlet and outlet must be supported independently, so that no extra structural stress from the pipeline weight is transferred to the pump body, which could cause deformation of the pump casing and misalignment of internal rotating components. When installing the sealing gasket between the pump flange and the pipeline flange, ensure the gasket is centered perfectly to avoid blocking part of the flow passage and creating uneven flow distribution inside the pump. After the connection work is completed, perform a static pressure test on the connected section to confirm there is no leakage at the flange joints under the system’s maximum working pressure. For outdoor installation sites exposed to large temperature variations, the thermal expansion compensation of the adjacent pipelines should be properly arranged to avoid introducing extra axial force on the pump’s inlet and outlet connections during temperature cycles.
